Forgiveness, repair and healing: an examination of the Greene County restorative justice program with implications for peacemaking criminology

Restorative justice policies and procedures have become widespread throughout the United States over the past 30 years. During this period of time, criminology research has directed attention toward the evaluation of programs in terms of their capability of implementing a RJ model that effectively serves the victim, offender and community. The goal of this study is to provide an in-depth overview of the operational design and program components of RJ, as implemented by the Greene County, Missouri Department of Probation and Parole.

The Development of Milwaukee’s Community Conferencing Program

Whereas most criminal justice Restorative Justice based programming is housed in non-profit organizations, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office has operated the Community Conferencing Program for over ten years. This article describes its development, continuity, and lessons learned. It also introduces the Program’s collaboration with the Milwaukee Public Schools, and the nexus of Restorative Practices with personal healing from cancer.
